First Night…

All dirty minds are requested to shut down and reboot in safe mode. Because, the night that just passed was the first one of its kind in my life and misconceptions may be waiting to arise. This being an integral part of the lives of many students, i got the opportunity to enjoy a night out, a first one at that! The situation was perfect and so, was planned before hand. And for those of you who are wondering who that girl in a single guy’s life is, let me brief you; I am not yet fortunate to have it. The night out was with a childhood male friend of mine.

My parents left for a small pilgrimage on Saturday evening, which marked the beginning of a small but glorious time of being the acting king of my home. I was tired by helping my parents with the preparations for the journey and so called it a day pretty early. Sunday, which was my younger brother’s birthday, started off with me giving him the first birthday wish at midnight. All was fine and the rest of the day was uneventful.

My friend who was supposed to come by 9pm, was held back at his home because of the rains. He was unsure of making it to my place even if the distance was 1.5 km only. After half an hour of anxious wait, the rain subsided and he made it. Now, nothing was prepared for the night. No drinks (strictly non-alcoholic). No chips. No American Pie (uncensored movie πŸ˜› )(which is our common hot favorite) 😦 .

Slight drizzle persisted and we decided to brave it to go and get something for the night. My brother was sleeping inside the locked house while we both were walking like zombies in near-freezing cold. The bakery nearby had a promising look, but it turned out to be an exhibition of empty shelves 😦 . Moreover, the bakery-wala didn’t keep stock of Pepsi or any of its products (we are Pepsi Bhaktas πŸ˜€ ) Another store was left to try out and to our displeasure, he too didn’t stock Pepsi. We had to be contented with an absolutely warm 2ltr Sprite.

The rain started lashing out again and we were stuck. With no other choice, we started running back in the rain like Jerry and the canary being chased by Tom :D.Β  Both of us had our own problems with running in rain. If i slow down, my slippers become slippery and if he speeds up he might tumble, again, for the same reason. I took the advantage and ran in the rain leaving him behind and was jubilant midway when he sped past me. That idiot had used his brain at last and ran bare footed, carrying the slippers by hand πŸ˜€ .

Reaching the door of my home felt like finishing a marathon πŸ˜€ . For the rest of the night, we had to adjust without the chips and had to wait till the warm-drink underwent a transformation into a cold-drink in the refrigerator. The movie upon which we consented after some argument was Tomb Raider 1 (which won over Jab We Met, Dhamaal, iRobot etc,.) After finishing it, our eyes begged for some solitude and urged us to sleep. It was just 1 am and not very late. But still, the show was closed and the bed was calling. Moreover, we were supposed to go for swimming early next morning (which we did, after all this!)

The night out.
The night out.

I don’t think i can come out further about this, but there are a second and a third night to come. πŸ˜€ And the stock of movies is good, too. Just hoping to make the most of it. Azeem-o-shan Shehen Shah… apun ka ghar ka!

PS : Pic taken while sitting in front of PC and watching the movie. Picture courtesy : Self timer in my mobile cam πŸ™‚

There is another importance to this day! It was this day last year that i took the delivery of my bike. I still remember finishing off the first 100 kms on day one. And now, one year later, the reading is 8004.6 km, after changing each of a clutch cable, a rear brake cable and the rear tube once. Hoping to ride more than 10k km in the next year πŸ˜€ .

  1. LOL πŸ˜€

I just read ur title and then scrolled down…and saw pics … u two guys on bed!!!! lol πŸ˜›

I got it what the content was now…

but still read it to get clear of doubts!!! πŸ˜›

Frdship is such a lovely part of our life na πŸ˜€

  2. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ why specify male? these days anygender can be taken in wrong (or right! ) sense! πŸ˜› πŸ˜›

  3. @Harsha
Dude!!! I am an idiot now huh? OK, fine. Won’t be coming today. Just kidding. Btw, the title makes it sound gay. But on the whole, a nice post.

It’s actually a sofa. We were cold. So we were under the blanket. And yes. Friendship is like the tea powder in tea. It doesn’t taste good without the powder. πŸ˜€

I know… If he had mentioned the title of this post to me previously, I would have definitely objected. πŸ˜›

  4. lol … funny title. . πŸ˜‰
no american pie …aaw 😦 that was the saddest part i guess…
lol ..i just start laughing when some of the scenes of the movie flash in front of me .. πŸ˜€

    nice pic.. πŸ˜›

by the way are hits starting to pour in … ?? πŸ˜›

  5. @Chakoli
Oh! But it does! It matters a lot. In a bed, we would have to support our heads on our hands in order to watch the movie. But that’s not the case in a sofa. Another tea lover huh? Cheers! “Drink tea be free” πŸ˜€ πŸ˜›

  6. Harsha ur title is really catchy!! that i couldn’t stop myself peeping in when i saw my reader πŸ˜†

n it was really funny to c both of u on bed ..oops sry sofa! LOL

Btw had a nice time reading the whole thing… ROFL πŸ˜€

  7. @Harsha
Dude. I think I look a little fat in the pic. Don’t you think? Looks like I have a pretty broad chest(which I most obviously don’t) πŸ˜€ .

  8. @All : i think the yesternight’s adventure took its toll. i slept all this time after posting (nearly 6 hours) and coming back to WP as fresh as ever πŸ˜‰

@Smallstar : Welcome back after the long vacation! Am i as glad to have you back as others…! πŸ™‚

@Carina : Welcome to my blog. thnx for the review πŸ™‚

@Chakoli : I just hope that all ur doubts are cleared πŸ˜› .
well said abt friendship. we may not enjoy as much as this later in life even if we spend a million dollars πŸ™‚

@Sakhi : i specified the gender for my comfort level. else, my friend will chase me till hell’s gate if there is a misconception. and i’m not interested in hell yet… πŸ˜€
Gender can be taken in the right (or wrong) sense. but it takes a lot more time to be applicable to India and thank god for that!

@Anniyan : calm down dude. i forgot to mention that i was an idiot too πŸ˜› . thnx for the explanation given to Chakoli.
abt the title : I may be a lazy-fat-ass, apparently fit-for-nothing creature “sometimes”, but, i don’t lack a bag of surprises. and thts why i didnt tell u abt the title beforehand πŸ˜€

@Arvind : Unfortunately, i couldn’t get it today either… have to settle with the euro trip, road trip, boat trip and old school movies… Thnx abt the the pic πŸ™‚
Hits pour only if i write something naa… so it was natural… πŸ™‚

@Chakoli and Anniyan : Can i join the tea party…? i’d prefer having it under a canopy in rain along with hot n spicy mirchi bajjis… *slurp* my mouth is watering already πŸ˜€

@Rekha : The sofa was awesome and so was your comment πŸ™‚ as for the title, i couldn’t put it as ‘First night of its kind…’ so i cut it short πŸ˜›

  9. Recently my parents too went out of station and I was all alone at home. Enjoyed cooking only on sunday. Rest days cooked grudgingly. Didnt enjoy much cuz it was a working week along with classes. So early to bed early to rise.

  10. Three things are quite disturbing for me in this article:
    – The words “First night”
    – The word Mis”conception”
    – The fact that you and your friend are sharing a single bedsheet..! πŸ˜€
    Yaako maga?

  11. @Reems : that was the same with me most of the times before. This time, the holz also came at the same time. i enjoy cooking too. My bro leaves for the college at 6:30 in the morning and i’ve to make breakfast for him earlier than that. Its fun πŸ˜€

@Nik : datty mind!! Adikke maga post nalli first sentence irodu πŸ˜› .
it was not a bedsheet, but it was a rug. it was large and heavy maga and he could not carry it alone. so i helped him by sharing πŸ˜›

  12. *but it takes a lot more time to be applicable to India and thank god for that!*

Yeah yeah… Thank God for that! πŸ˜›

  13. @Nikhil
Why is the world always so perverted? I can understand Harsha, but others? πŸ˜€ No offense meant.

  14. hey..was surprised to c the title at first…then without reading the blog i just scrolled down n then found the picture…then i understood bout the title “FIRST NIGHT” πŸ™‚
Hope u ppl had a nice marathon in rain… πŸ™‚

  15. @Apoorva
Of course we did. And guess who won? ME, of course! πŸ˜€ Had a nice time though… Hoping tonight would be the best. It’s the third night. πŸ˜›

  16. @Smallstar : had a great day… and a great night, third time straight! πŸ˜€ got ur kiss… thnx a lot πŸ˜‰

@Anniyan : dude… we were freaked out pervs at one point of time and made fun of the world. now its time to lift up the brave little chests we’ve got and face the world head on… πŸ˜€

@Apoorva : Marathon in rain was the most funniest path. u can ROFL by just imagining how it feels like seeing Anniyan shaking with cold and running in the rain with slippers in hand…

  17. @Oxy : Exactly. And its superb when it is combined with a good company and a bottle of Pepsi with some salt. πŸ˜€
    Btw, Welcome to Su.

@Anniyan : I dont remember a single movie i saw, thru which i was asleep halfway! And i got a glimpse of what it is to be asleep halfway when u slept off in between ‘The Road Trip’

@T : Hmmm… now the days are old for us too, nevertheless good! The ‘few days’ seemed to have flown off swiftly!

  18. Aha!!!! It literary was a Guy’s night out!!!!

And why o why did u start with such a misleading title & para πŸ˜‰

Hope the shenshah enjoy’s his kingdom and is better stocked nd prepared next time πŸ™‚

And many more happy Kms to u n ur bike πŸ˜€

  19. @Oxy : Thats a nice idea… but since i was left to myself, i did not dare to use the kitchen for more than the pinch of salt… πŸ˜€

    @S : A warm welcome to my blog πŸ™‚
Yup… it was a guy’s night out!! And the title and the para were not intended to be misleading… i just wanted to add some X factor to my post… πŸ˜€
I’ll make sure about the stocks for the next night out… though i missed American Pie, i had a nice time watching 7 movies in the three night outs that i spent… πŸ™‚
My bike says – “Thnx a lot” πŸ™‚

  20. Hahaha. Great. I too had night’s’ out, if you could consider chatting with your friends at the hostel till dawn as night outs. πŸ™‚
And yes, once we saw three horror movies back to back one night too. πŸ™‚

  21. @Arvind : Sure dude… i’d love to keep posting… i’ll come up with something good asap… πŸ™‚ thnx for coming back πŸ™‚

@Amit : Hello and a Big Welcome to my Blog πŸ™‚
I’m game for Thrillers but not horrors… and hostel life is fun too… i hadn’t been in a hostel anytime, but shared some pleasant and apparently Unreal experiences with those who were hostelites… πŸ™‚

  22. LOL….

I dont think so it wud matter…

u cud have tieda rope supoorting the celing…and used it to put in ur hands πŸ˜‰

    drink tea be free??

    bole toh?

  23. @vimal : I mind people rating my blog as mature… that is why i refrain from giving such titles most of the times. But, if i am sure that most people who happen to read my blog dont mind it, what problem will i have?

  24. @Priya : hmmm, so you are not absconding! i’m glad to have you back.
whats there with the title? and swimming after that was fun! i was afraid i’d sleep floating on water… πŸ˜€

  25. Absconding ?
    *hides away under the sheets*

No no !! Had tests after tests after tests !! Sigh !!

How can any person sleep floating on water ?!

About the title…*makes a straight face*

  26. @Pri : Why are u people bothered with tests so early…? i think u have 7 more months before your finals naa…?
Try floating on water after a night out… u’ll tend to sleep due to water’s relaxing effect… thank god i just felt sleepy and didnt sleep actually… else,…

  27. Yeah!! They believe in torturing us from the begenning !!
70% of our sylabus is done already you know !

//floating on water after a night out… u’ll tend to sleep due to water’s relaxing effect//

  28. This post seems to be a hit.

I am with Sakhi, why specify gender of your friend. Plus, if you again post a picture of yours with this friend under such sensational blog titles, you orientation could be could be mistaken πŸ˜›

  29. @Pri : 70%…!?! have they gone mad? are they gonna do the whole thing three times over, before pushing u to the exams?

@Poonam : I tried to clear up most elements in the post which may lead to misconception about my orientation. Yet, if anything is sending out wrong signals, it might be so because i might not have looked in more detail from that angle. Did that doubt arise while reading the post, or was it a consequence of the picture?

  30. Whoa i am sure even if you had such ba luck with pepsi and the rains that night must be one of the most memorable ones for you..perfect things are never remembers its just the unusual happenngs that stick in our minds…

  31. @Mahak : Well said! we become too busy with our monotony, that we tend to forget about leading an interesting life as Reema talks about it in one of her posts.
