Wondering if I’ve gone mad? Did I just express my love for abstract or inanimate things? Oh yes! I did. Well, its just my expressibility that is setting me apart. Otherwise, when it comes to driving, everyone will be loving some aspect of their drive. With me, Its the accelerator. THe story doesn’t end here, my friends! Read On. š
There are different love stories possible based on the priorities given to a few important control systems, namely, Accelerator, Clutch, Gear, Front Brake, Rear Brake and Miscellaneous. (Includes – Honk, Indicator, Hand-Signaling, Pass-Lighting š ) We can have a lot of combos and that decides the behavior they extract out of you, and your ride. š
(Before we delve further, its time for that naive statutory warning cum disclaimer cum ‘I’m not responsible blah blah…’ stuff to be dealt with.
Few women can enjoy reading this post. In my opinion, only tomboyish ones can. If you want to read further no matter what, don’t blame me for incessant yawns.
Auto Trans Vehicular users (Read : people using gear-less gaadis) can stop here if you want to continue with using them. If you want to read further no matter what, don’t blame me for incessant yawns.
Finally, all these are MY observations in MY bike as well as quite a few of my friends’ bikes over the past 3 yrs of my driving experience.
Only people with adventure spirit, I believe, will experiment further, promising to themselves not to blame me later. š )
Accelerator, Gear, Front Brake, Clutch, Rear Brake, Misc.
This is My usual style of driving and involves optimum use of Acc, minimum use of brakes, Honks and indicators. When none of them are in use, its just free cruise in Gear-engage position. (4th or 5th gear only!) Advantages : Max control over speed and deceleration. Braking is optimized in a way such that the engaged gear decelerates your vehicle with minimum jerks than brakes and stopping would be easier. Disadvantages : Not using the brake too often can make you apprehensive about stopping the bike. Mis-timing of events frequently causes more long term side effects like notchy gear box. Infrequent gearing can cause poor torque management.
Accelerator, Clutch, Rear Brake, Gear, Front Brake, Misc.
This was my 1st method of riding only because, I’d learnt it that way. Features include not very precise use of accelerator, more braking than in previous case, Free cruise with a depressed / pulled clutch, and more frequent gear changes than in previous case. Advantages : Less noisy ride because of increased clutch use, driver is apparently convinced that brake related security is more. Shifting gears frequently and properly can help maintain a steady torque, which ensures a smother drive. Disadvantages : Relying more upon Rear brake is good only for slowing down and not stopping fast. Frequent gearing means higher wear and tear, directly proportional to the rashness of use.
I’m game to try other ways which anyone suggests, as good as you are to try mine. š But driving involves a lot more than Acc, Brake etc., to be a good experience. It requires a proper attitude towards your drive, the road, and its users.
Happy Driving. š
I love a SUV (of course, not an “Auto Trans Vehicle”!) and i love its height and power steering! And then the butter smooth road, 110 km/h speed…. oooooooh, its simply heaven!!
But my love of vehicles end here! spuuuurt…spat…dhup! š š
thts a lot of lov for vehicles! š
made a nice read š
thnx a lot! š
hey there, good info ! thanks a lot
i was looking for that
check out my blog for same info needd.
Well..err…vehicles are for going from place A to place B. Period!
if only A, B and the road between mattered, then we’d still be going on the v1.0 of the wheel! š
First time I am seeing a blog post professing love for an accelerator. Have I reached the end of the internet ? š
Prolly its just a matter of time before the end moves on to another end. what do u think we can look for next? š
I just love to sit behind and go on a ride….. š
err… then i think the rider matters a lot! š
Rider and the BIKE matters… more preference is for the BIKE š
Thanks for the comments on my blog. To reply to your question here of what to look for – I can only think of maybe we need to “Go Back to The Future” š to figure it out.
My style: Acc(Burst) => First gear=> Acc=>Repeat the combo until 4th gear(only 4 gears in my bike š¦ )
Both brakes suddenly if some nutter tries to act like a speed-breaker=>Repeat above combo
Disadvantages: You might want to actually ram into those “wannabe” speed bumps. But it is advisable not to do so. š š
I would make sure they get a taste of the “ramming” in simulation mode. š š
good one !!! absolutely a mechy thing !!! loved it
But your usual style of riding doesn’t apply when riding in bangalore city limits ryt????
THnx. š I drive the same way i’ve mentioned, inside city limits too. Saves a lot of clutch/de-clutching and that could mean a lot to the health of fingers. esp, in my bike.
Alice is again screaming on you….
Hi, good post. I have been pondering this issue,so thanks for sharing. I’ll certainly be coming back to your blog. Keep up great writing
LOL š
[…] Accelerator – My 1st Love! […]
COOL header image…. š
love for an accelerator! what was it …love at first sight. if i were to love it, may be i wud first see it only after there was some problem in it.
talking of love for inanimate things, i m confessing it for the first time publicly. yes i too loved a thing once and most of u wud think i am too weird.
I got my first undy only when i reached 8th class. it was a Rupa Frenchie. and i was in so much love with it. I didn’t wash my clothes. but i wouldn’t let the bai wash my undy. i would do it myself. the love was short-term though. in a week, the love was gone and it was just another garment.
Very Interesting ..
I enjoyed..!!
Vroommm..!!
š
hmm… started of well. But by the end of the post I was gasping. Anywayz, the bottom line is – It is the attitude of the rider that matters š
